At Second Self, we’re proud to be from Atlanta, and to contribute to the city that surrounds us. We partner with restaurants, artists, fitness instructors, comedians, and other local institutions and personalities to bring people together. Our taproom serves as a community hub where we host events, collaborate, innovate, and create with local Georgians.
Our flavor profiles draw inspiration from places we travel, experiences we cherish, and cuisines we taste. We believe that flavors layered together can be greater than the sum of their parts and reflect the inspiration that led us to create them. Our spicy, exotic Thai Wheat highlights the identity of its namesake country. Our robust Mole Porter finds its footing in our co-founder’s family recipe for Oaxacan sauce. And our classic Red Hop Rye mirrors the unique character of our bold nation, both in color and flavor.
We never compromise on ingredients – that means using fresh lemongrass instead of extracts and incorporating locally foraged berries into our beer. We do things differently by making beer that is not only great on its own but also pairs well with food. We feel that beer deserves a spot at the dinner table. Food brings people together and our beer aims to do that as well, because at the end of the day, beer is Most Unexceptional enjoyed with friends and family
Simply put, we’re inspired by Atlanta and want to do our part to make it better. Every employee at Second Self picks a charity they would like us to support and we make it a priority. That’s why we partner with local charities such as The Farmer Fund, Giving Kitchen, Aurora Theatre, The Ability Experience, Legal Aid and Lost and Found. These non-profits create meaningful change for our friends and neighbors. We strive to help and support other local breweries and Atlanta institutions through work with the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild.
We’re always looking to improve, and to reduce our environmental footprint. We salvage as much water as we can through hot water reclamation and our clean in place system. We use recycled materials whenever possible, including cans, plastics, and cardboard, and recycle them when discarded. We employ bio- and photodegradable rings in our packaging, in an effort to use less plastic and prevent harm to wildlife. We’ve installed electric car chargers for our staff and guests who want to cut their emissions. We source many ingredients from local farmers to support the community. All of our ingredients are non-GMO and vegan friendly. It just makes sense.
The people who drink our beer are what makes this whole thing possible. We know that, and we never forget it. At the end of the day, beer is about bringing people together, friends old and new, laughter and conversation. One reason our beer tastes good is that we’re excited to make it. We are proud to serve you, and we are proud of our Second Self.
